About the Thunder Lake Lodge and Cabin

Nestled in the Hiawatha National Forest in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula are the rustic Thunder Lake Lodge and Cabin, two separate buildings sharing 270 feet of Thunder Lake frontage.  They are your home for fishing, swimming, sightseeing, and more. It is an ideal spot for a get-away or vacation and is available from early spring to late fall.

Come in the spring for fishing, hikes in the woods, mushroom hunting, and quiet nights.  It’s an excellent time to get away and enjoy the natural surroundings.  The fishing is outstanding:  Thunder Lake has been called the second-best bluegill lake in the state.  Plus, there’s small mouth bass, perch, pike, and more.

Come in the summer for fishing, boating, swimming, berry picking, and family fun.  Take your boat out for a cruise around beautiful Thunder Lake: over half of the shoreline is state and national forest, with nature at its best. The swimming area is great for adults and kids, with the crystal-clear water of the lake and a sandy bottom with plenty of safe shallows for children to enjoy.

Come in the fall for hunting during small game or bow and rifle deer seasons.  Enjoy beautiful days and quiet nights.  The night sky can be stunning and the sunsets gorgeous.
